The School of Computer Science and all divisions frequently receive requests for public tours. While we can not accommodate all requests, periodic tours are offered to groups by prior arrangement. To inquire further, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PROSPECTIVE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
- Official tours of the Computer Science facilities for high school students are only offered during Sleeping Bag Weekends (SBW) and April Yield events. Please visit University Admissions for the Sleeping Bag Weekend schedule and additional information. Please note, SBW and April Yield events are intended for high school seniors only. However, we do permit other students to attend the events except for the actual sleepover portion of the weekend. For more information regarding this option, please contact Nicole Stenger.
- For prospective students who cannot visit during SBW or April Yield, you may schedule a 1/2 hour appointment to speak to an Undergraduate Office representative in the Computer Science Department. They will be able to provide an overview of our program and answer any of your questions. We also offer a self-guided tour of our facilities/buildings. To schedule an appointment, please contact Catharine Fichtner.
- Campus tours for prospective students can be scheduled through the university’s Undergraduate Admissions office.
THE ROBOTICS INSTITUTE
The Robotics Institute often hosts an open house during the university’s annual Spring Carnival (held in April). The details on this event is posted on the Robotics Institute website as the registration date approaches.
Please note, most of our robots are located within laboratories and thus are not readily accessible to the public. But Tank, the Roboceptionist, an interactive social robot, operates on most weekdays at the third-floor entrance to Newell-Simon Hall. HERB, the home exploring robot butler, is a two-armed, mobile robot that can be viewed through the glass walls of the Personal Robotics Lab on the fourth floor of Newell-Simon Hall. Both robots invite you to visit.
Thank you for your interest in all our programs. If you have additional questions related to tours please contact us.
