""

One of Carnegie Mellon's great strengths has been its ability to push experimental computer science ideas from theory to practical demonstration, continuously testing new fundamental insights by constructing large prototype systems in which they are embodied. In the past 15 years alone, SCS researchers have pioneered developments in the areas of parallel processing, networking, distributed systems, software technology, and robotics.

Research Areas categorizes for the diverse work going on in SCS. The Research Sponsors page lists the funding sources that have made SCS research possible. Spin-offs follows SCS research that has moved beyond the University to industry or nonprofit sectors.
