(6) These Victoria crowned pigeons -- yes, pigeons -- look a bit oversized, and bear vaguely comical crests. Here, one engages in vigorous, noisy tail-flapping. The other pigeon seems unimpressed.

(7) Larger and more colorful than the usual "rock dove" city pigeon, they still share certain familiar behaviors, such as head-bobbing. Head-bobbing combined with non-rigid crest and inertia makes for motion-blurred feathers.

(8) Victoria crowned pigeons have quite a few feathers to groom.

(9) This bird has quite interesting plumage, no? And the yellow, er, flaps, are interesting. Despite its proximity to the door, it made no attempt to escape into other parts of the National Aviary.
