Source code
If you have a chance, do us all a favor and post any code you
can. It doesn't need to be fully polished; just examples would
even be nice. There is no point in duplicating all the effort
that goes into making a sound-using app; please please please
donate your code somewhere (here would be nice, i'm more than happy
to put it on my ftp site).
-
Macintosh C pages
, thanks to
Ambrosia Software. Not aimed at sound, but this is a great resource for Macintosh programming in general.
- The
alt.sources.mac archive
, also hosted by
Ambrosia Software.
-
HyperArchive Source Code Directory. This has a lot in it; I've tried to include all of the speech-related source here, but there's a lot of other good stuff there.
-
Speech Recognition SDK
(software development kit) from Apple. Contains sample source code. Note you might have to include SIOUX consolestubs.c to compile it under CW, but it should not be an issue under CW9 or10.
-
Speakable Applet (and source code!). In the words of Bill Cheeseman:
Hiroshi Oda of Japan has brought to my attention his AppleScript Tools
web site . Among other
things, it contains a small application that recognizes spoken phrases,
using Apple's speech recognition system software. Using the application
as a sort of "template" according to his instructions, you can create
additional applications to recognize any desired phrase, without regard
to the name of the application file. The applications are scriptable
(they have an 'aete' resource), and you can control the spoken phrases
they respond to and what they do as a result by installing your own
AppleScript scripts into the applications as 'scpt' resources using
ResEdit.
Special thanks to Oda-san and Cheeseman-san!
-
TCPPlay
saved my life. Lets you use your mac
as an audio server from your unix box without buying an
umpteen-thousand dollar card for the workstation. Includes
source code!
-
Malcolm Slaney's
stuff at ftp.apple.com
; Mathematica and MATLAB toolboxes,
and some great source code. Joe Bob says "check it out".
His
home page
is well worth visiting.
-
ExcelTalk
, A Text-To-Speech extension for MS Excel. Includes documentation and
source code!
