Mac Speech: Research

Research Tools. Some of these may not use Apple Speech, but are important for speech and acoustic research.

Intelligent Speech Analyser allows detailed analysis of speech signal on the Macintosh.
Signalyze Speech research tool. Not specifically using Mac speeech technology, but an important tool for speech research. Commercial.
MATLAB should be mentioned here for speech research work, though it also doesn't use Apple Speech. Commercial.
Anyone seriously looking into doing speech and audio research on the Mac should take a look at Malcolm Slaney's home page; particularly if you are interested in auditory modeling and representations. Mathematica and MATLAB tools!
- TCPPlay saved my life. Lets you use your mac as an audio server from your unix box without buying an umpteen-thousand dollar card for the workstation. Includes source code! Take a look at the play man page on my machine.
- Malcolm's stuff at ftp.apple.com or at his home page.
SoX Sound eXchange program for unix. If you move sound files back and forth a lot, you should get SoX. note: does not run on a Mac.
