Dear Streck,

Now that we're working together, I think we should get down to business. As I see it, the main things we need to discuss are the details of our cooperation and mission priorities.

As you are probably aware, I have been working in concert with the Temple of the Wind against the shades for the past year. Since Snickersnake (one of the six "True Shades") appears to be rather annoyed at both of us (see the enclosed note, taken from one of Snickersnake's assassin teams when their attempt on me and my current party failed), I propose that I and my team continue working on this front, and toward this end I am requesting any information you have on Snickershake's organizations, and the shade organization in general. (Since the Clan has been involved in shade operations in the past, I believe that we should have some good intelligence on this. Information regarding Tadpole, Piranha, Heptagram, and Eclipse would also be useful.)

On my end, we have discovered that Snickersnake has parallel organizations in the East and West, though her current focus appears to be in the West, where she may be behind the subversion of the Council of Lords. (A side note here: in the Dragon Tears operation, Rikeel had the means to forge documents from several Western Lords, the Emperor, and you.) We don't have much intelligence on her operation yet, including her overall objective or how it fits into the Shade Lord's overall plan, but they appear to be well-organized and have good divination abilities.

Any theories on the attack on the mountain base? (Something about the "tiff with Heptagram," possibly?) The shades appear to preparing for a major offensive in the spring; they may be hoping to get magical supplies from the Clan vault. Since we have apparently been infiltrated, either by dops or by disguised shades, updating the traps and defenses seems wise.

I also suggest that we keep our association quiet for the time being. If our mutual enemies realize that we are joining forces, they will presumably step up their efforts against us; given our history, this alliance would appear unlikely, and that short-sightedness may work to our advantage. The Clan is also in bad repute in the Free City; I have contacts among the mages and hobgoblins there, and it should benefit us to keep those lines open. (What is the quarrel between the Clan and the hobgoblins, anyway? The Free City hobs strike me as unusually open-minded with respect to racial enmities.)

To summarize, my proposal is that I continue openly working with the Temple and my current party against Snickersnake and the shades, coordinating operations, information, and resources with the rest of the Clan. Of course, I will also be on call should a threat to the Clan arise (such as a shade attack on the base). And I look forward to our successful future together.
