Notes The standard pinnace for RMN Destroyers and Cruisers as of 1900 PD. From 1904 PD, new-construction BCs and CAs are equipped with the slightly larger Mk30; older BCs and CAs will replace the Mk28s with Mk29s or Mk30s as construction schedules permit. BCs will also be provided with a Mk30C Prowler Command Pinnace as well.
The main differences between the Mk28 and the earlier Mk26 are in the absence of the aft turret and the removal of one of the two spinal lasers. The additional mass reduction comes from the use of more advanced, lighter battle steels in the construction which yield superior protection (approximately 25%) with less weight.
Units remaining in service will be fitted with upgraded inertial compensators and Beta² impellers. This upgrade will increase performance to 500G, while effecting a reduction of 30 tons in the mass of the drive systems. The mass reduction will not be reflected in the total mass of the craft, but will be used to mount more powerful EW/ECM and sensor electronics.
First appearance: On Basilisk Station.
