From the concepts to the design

Once we had presented our concept scenarios to the focus group and received their feedback, we used their suggestions to guide the development and refinement of our design prototype. In particular, we wanted to emphasize the four themes we drew out from all of our research, namely:

• Portability
• Familiarity
• Simplicity
• Shared Connections

We started from our initial concept scenarios and worked to refine them so that they addressed these themes. We constructed a physical prototype that best blends the features that our focus group responded most positively towards. As a result, our design prototype focuses primarily on the musical postcard aspect as well as the shoebox form factor. Details of our physical prototype can be explored in this section. To illustrate how our design protoype would fit into the lifestyle of a senior, we constructed a storyboard which we would later turn into a video sketch.
