EZ Pan is a set of pan pipes with small, plastic or hard-rubber mouth pieces positioned over each pipe. When the child blows air through the mouthpiece, the air is perfectly directed over the edge of the pipe, creating music. Based on the principles of air waves and sound created by a closed-pipe woodwind, the pipes would be sized to include notes based on either major or pentatonic scales.
The pan pipes could be made out of traditional wooden tubes or plastic, which would be low cost, and the mouthpiece could be molded out of plastic or hard rubber. For a musical instrument, pan pipes would be cheap and moderately durable. Because mouth contact with the product is essential, safety restrictions on age would be set around eight years old and up.
