Twisty-Copter

The Twisty-Copter is a rubber-band powered toy helicopter. Children will turn wind the blades around, which will turn a gear that will wind the rubber-band around the driving shaft, storing potential energy. When the child lets go, the rubber-band will unravel, causing the blades to turn rapidly, which will produce enough force to raise the toy helicopter. The toy is based on potential energy, kinetic energy, gear science, and aerodynamics.
The toy would probably come as a “build it yourself” product which would make manufacturing cheaper. However, thin light plastic would be required to make it light enough, which could cause durability issues. Since it would be marketed as a “build it yourself” toy, it would require parental guidance and have an age suggestion of ten or older.
