- A paddle wheel is essentially a large wheel with paddles mounted along its circumference. Common applications are for boat propulsion or to generate power from running water.
- The paddle wheel assembly is consturcted from two identical circular pieces of cardboard joined by 20 cardboard "paddles". The wheel itself is mounted to an axle with a knob near the circumference to act as a handle.
- The goal of the Paddle Wheel is to demonstrate that by adding a wheel to the system:
- continuous flow of objects can be achieved.
- rotating a wheel is easier and faster to operate than lifting loads using buckets.
- Please note, some power tools and sharp tools are necessary to build the screw and support structure.
