Wind-up Ice Skating Dino
Description of Ice Skating dino:
- The ice skating dino works like any wind-up toy, with knob and a gear system. The toy is designed to be about 8 inches tall. As the toy unwinds the skates pivot around the dino's ankles and at its hips causing it to skate. the unique part about this wind-up toy is that it will only move on a frozen surface, so with the help of a child's parents dino can be played with in the back yard during winter or on a frozen cookie sheet. The ice skates will also come with skate guards to cover the sharp blades.
- The skating dino will give the child an opportunity to experiment with viscosity or "slipperiness." This also introduces the child to the concept of friction.
- Construction costs include the plastics, which would need to be really colorful and the gear system, also some sharp metal would be needed for the blades. The toy should be durable, if it is broken like most wind-up toys it should be easy to put back together. Also the toy does not require batteries. The toy does have small parts (the skate guards) that could be choked on by a small child. Also the skate blades will be sharp so parental supervision is required.
