Floating blocks
<
Description of floating Blocks:
- This toy is designed for a toddler (2-4). It includes a foam base made from foam that has circular and square indents. The toy comes with rectangular prisms and cylinders of different length and color, also made from foam. The child places the foam blocks in the slots and hopefully finds a way to get it so that all the blocks fit and the tray stays afloat in the bath tub.
- The child is given the opportunity to begin experimenting with buoyant forces and obtains a visual concept of density with the foam blocks. The child also begins to see the importance of weight distribution and stability.
- The construction coasts would include molding the foam shapes and the foam tray along with packaging and transportation. The foam pieces can be broken but it would involve an adult’s strength. The blocks used for the toy would be large enough that choking would not be an issue, but children do have a tendency to chew on foam so the material would have to be non-toxic.
