Current Projects

Below is a list of current CANA projects. Click on the location name link to learn more about a particular project.

Glenville, Gilmer County, WV:

Glenville is located in Gilmer County, one of the least populated counties in the State of West Virginia. The Glenville community has seven T1 access lines connecting the state college, the primary and secondary school system, court house and local medical center. Businesses and residents of the county do not have broadband internet access.

The Glenville wireless project seeks to improve the local community through

  1. making a more efficient economic telecommunication market through aggregation of demand and
  2. optimize the use of the high speed network through education and e-commence initiatives.

Intermediate Unit 1, Fayette, Greene and Washington County, PA:

Internet2 is a high speed access application, whose time has come.

Internet2 is a revolution in education and telemedicine, allowing distance multi-directional communication in realtime with unequaled resolution. The applications of I2 in rural educational and medical institutions have far reaching implications.

CANA is indebted to Mike Hernon, consultant to the Appalachian Regional Commission, for guiding our Internet2 activities.

Hôpital Albert Schweitzer, Deschapelles, Haiti:

Hôpital Albert Schweitzer has served Haiti since 1956 when Larrimore Mellon began this philanthropic effort inspired by Albert Schweitzer.

CANA is working with the hospital to implement an intranet connecting the central facility with the twelve remote dispensaries.

Technology knows no geography and CANA is privlidged to be able to add its expertise to this noble effort.
