SCS undergrads Allison Wang and Serena Wang are among 54 students selected for the 2017 Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers Engineering Fellows Program.

The Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (KPCB) Fellowship Program has announced that two School of Computer Science undergraduates are among the fellows in its 2017 Engineering Fellows Program.

Allison Wang and Serena Wang are among 54 students selected from almost 2,000 applicants across the country to represent their universities this summer in Silicon Valley. The three-month summer program helps fellows develop their technical and design skills under the mentorship of innovative Silicon Valley startups.

Junior Allison Wang will complete her fellowship with Airbnb, an online marketplace and hospitality service. She has experience working as a software engineering intern with Airbnb in the past, as well as with Twitter.

Sophomore Serena Wang will intern with Coursera, an educational technology company that offers massive open online courses. In previous years, Serena has worked with companies including Airbnb and Google, and served as a teaching assistant for Principles of Imperative Computation (15-122), an introductory computer science course.

Along with learning new skills through their internships, KPCB Fellows are also invited to private events held by both KPCB and portfolio companies, where they can meet other talented engineering and design students, network with luminaries in their respective fields, and explore the San Francisco Bay Area.
