Traditions:
Something old:   charm bracelet of Spanish coins dating back to 1812
Something new:   the bridal gown
Something borrowed:   the charm bracelet worn on right wrist and a pearl bracelet worn on left wrist
Something blue:   one toenail on right foot painted blue
... and a shiny penny for her shoe:   hurriedly gathered by Janel Smith from Stacey Walker before the ceremony.

The day was a sunny one in Stoughton with afternoon temperatures in the high 70s.

As guests arrived at the church, they were greeted warmly by Bonnie Muller, who handed them a program and pointed them towards the main sanctuary.   There, Janel Smith and Carol Chesney, friends of the bride and groom, helped the guests to find seats.   The customary split of "friends of the bride on the left, friends of the groom on the right" was generally observed.

Ms. Barker provided the guests with a varied selection of organ music while waiting for the ceremony to begin.  The ceremony started later than planned as people waited for the arrival of the bride's maternal grandmother, who had inadvertently taken a wrong turn on the way to the church.   Although Sarah was hidden from most of the guests, Scott was flitting around the sanctuary, coordinating the wait with the minister and the organist, and chatting with some of the guests.

After the arrival of the missing grandmother, Sarah's sisters, wearing burgundy dresses bought specially for the occassion, were escorted down the aisle to their seats in the front row.  Rachel was escorted by Bonnie Muller, Laura by Janel Smith, and Rebecca by Carol Chesney.

Ms. Barker began playing Pachlbel's Canon in D on the church organ at about 3:20pm, when Scott walked down the aisle with his father, Don.  Both were wearing black Ralph Lauren tuxes, complete with vest and bow tie.  Scott's vest and tie were ivory, while Don's were black.

The long-awaited moment arrived, as Sarah was escorted down the aisle by her parents, Ted and Kitty, to the music of "The Bridal Chorus", from Wagner's "Lohengrin".    Ted wore a Ralph Lauren tux which matched Don's, and Kitty wore a floor-length deep blue dress.

The guests stood to see Sarah's ivory dress, which had short sleeves, a V sweetheart neck, and had a chapel-length train.   Her veil did not hide her face, and draped to the middle of her back.   Sarah carried a round bouquet of one dozen white roses.  On her right wrist, she wore her mother's Spanish coin charm bracelet, given to Kitty by Sarah's late grandfather years ago.

The 20-minute ceremony led by Dr. James included a fairly traditional set of vows, the exchange of rings, and a prayer.  It concluded with the required kissing of the couple, during which Sarah's sister Rebecca called out, "only one!"    Some in the audience smirked at the height difference of the couple.

Scott and Sarah left the sanctuary to the notes of  Mendelssohn's Wedding March, while Dr. James, Don, and Kitty signed the marriage certificates.  A receiving line followed in the entryway to the church.

After all guests had been greeted by the families, the newlyweds emerged from the doors of the church for pictures and cheers.   Although expected to jump into the waiting limo, they gathered with people for some pictures in the parking lot, and in the sanctuary, and then entered the limo for the ride to the reception.
