RE: Ballot On Demand - Minolta Printer - Printer Problems

It sounds like a printer problem, but then you would expect the ballot printing to drift over a run of ballots.  Do the printing change during a run or is there a length of idle time between these events?  Is the printer left powered on continuously?  Are the same ballot styles being printed when this happens?  Has the system been restarted between events?

FYI:
I've been talking with GBS on the Minolta BOD problems that they have experienced.  They have had success and/or failure using different combinations of GEMS and Minolta drivers.
Rodney Turner was in El Paso County, TX last week and found that he had to use a combination of three drivers to get their BOD to work with GEMS 1.17.  Perhaps he experienced this problem and knows of a solution?

Subject: Ballot On Demand - Minolta Printer - Printer Problems

Shelby County, TN is doing Ballot On Demand with a Minolta Pageworks 20 printer.  They have not had any problems in the past.  However, they are now experiencing problems where the ballot will not print correctly, as if the offsets have changed completely.  Once the offsets are entered correctly and the ballot prints correctly, they are able to print ballots.  Then out of nowhere it will start printing incorrectly.  They go back to check the offsets and they have not changed, but then need to change them back and forth to get the printer to print correctly again.  Is this a Gems problem, (Gems 1-16-4), or a printer problem???  I do not have a Minolta Pageworks 20 printer here in Omaha to be able to test.

Thanks,
