Jia-Yu Pan is currently at Google Inc., USA, working on anomaly detection and its applications in internet advertisement. He received his Ph.D. degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and has received three best paper awards from the conferences ICDM 2006, ICDM 2005, and PAKDD 2004. His research interests include data mining on multimedia and graphs, clustering techniques, anomaly detection methods, and WWW technology. He has served on the program committees of several data mining conferences, and has co-chaired the Multimedia Data Mining workshops in conjunction with the conferences KDD 2008 and SIAM Data Mining 2009.
