Background
I am a second year masters student in the Language Technologies Institute. In Spring 2006, I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina, where I also took classes towards a minor in Linguistics. In the past I have worked on Midlands Restaurants and FreeAlert.
Research
I am currently working on recommender systems under Anthony Tomasic.
Up until late 2006 I was also working with Paul Bennett, who
is now with Microsoft Research. Recommender systems predict which items a user will like based on the preferences they
have expressed in the past. Currently I am working in the scope of movie recommendations (predicting a user's rating for
movies they have not explicitly rated).
Beginning sometime this year I will be focusing more on word sense disambiguation and human computation. This work
will still be under my current advisor but in collaboration
with Luis von Ahn.
You can view my CiteLine collection to see some of the papers I have found important to remember (by no means exhaustive).
