I grew up all over the Greater Boston area. I went to school in Jamaica Plain until the 2nd grade. From the third grade on to 10th, I attended Brookline Public Schools. I went to high school for the first two years at Brookline High School. Then we moved to Gloucester, and I spent two years at St. John's Preparatory School, an all-boys Catholic School. Enough Said.
I don't have any pictures of Massachusetts in here, but maybe I will
put 'em in some day. Here's a cool picture of me as a
kid.
mysteries are ill-understood and thy charm is..subtle?
At CMU, I met many of my friends. Figuring that my punishment was not yet complete, I decided to major in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Ouch; it hurts just to say it.
Truth aside, Pittsburgh really does have some beautiful spots. These pictures were taken in Schenley Park, a 500-acre park situated right next to CMU (on the top part of the picture to the right).
At CMU I have participated in a number of activities. Here is a list of a few in which I was moderately involved:
Other things that please my soul...
Playing the flute
Hiking, camping, being in the woods
Since my parents grew up in California and my families are there,
I made many a trip out to the left coast when I was young. There on
the right is a picture of my cousin Kim
and me when we were little tykes.
Now both of my parents are back in California, and I live there during the summers. Right now (summer '96), I am living in Fremont with my friends John, Neeraj and Jeremy Z. Gautam is also working out here, but he is living in Sunnyvale.
John, Neeraj and I are working at Silicon Graphics, Inc.. It's pretty cool.
I love hiking. Last summer ('95), Neeraj and I went hiking in the
mountains around the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We like to
climb in the Berkeley hills, and Desolation Wilderness is also a special
favorite of ours (see the map on the right).
My father and I also did some hiking up in Desolation Wilderness. If you see a picture on these pages that looks like it's in the mountains, it's probably from Desolation.
On the left is a picture of upper Twin Lakes, at a spot where I like
to play my flute. It is the lake that looks like a lower-case u
just to the left of center on the map there. It's
a very beautiful place. There were still lots of snow on the ground
when Neeraj and I went hiking up there at the end of July '95.
In fact, here is a picture of me sliding down a giant snow bank
at that time.
On the left is a picture of my dad. This is when we came back in August and went up into the same area, a little bit higher to Smith Lake. This was Neeraj's and my destination in July, but there was way too much snow and it was still frozen over at that time. Smith Lake is in the map, south-southeast of Twin Lakes. Anyway, this is a picture of my dad which I took. And no, I didn't just paste his picture onto the background, although it does sort of appear that way...
Northern California is really nice. Go there.
Summer '96
Last summer, a few friends and I
took over California. Some of us worked
at Silicon Graphics. I still haven't had a
chance to add in all the pictures and narrative from that..perhaps
some day.
As you can see from the picture, people are crazy at SGI. That is me
on the left, giving my "girlfriend" a ride. Yes, that is my
motorcycle, but no, I don't (usually) wear a dress while riding it.
This was dress rehearsal for Lip Sync '96, where our group won an
award for "Most Outrageous / Dramatic Performance" (one of the most
sought awards at Lip Sync).
Since we all had such an awesome time out in California
during summer '96, I thought I'd give you some info. Check out
John's Cali Page which has some
info about CA and our trip to Desolation Wilderness...
I'll scan in the rest of the pics and give you more narrative...some day when
I get around to it...
During Spring Break of 1995, my friends
Chris,
Adrian,
Justin
and I took the train to Philadelphia, then picked up Chris's
grandparents' stationwagon and went cruisin. We drove through
New York City (Holy Holy Guacamoleeeee!) and up to Boston.
We stayed with
the Hermans
for a bit, and then went up to New Hampshire and visited
my dad.
Next we went up to Chris's family's cabin in New Hampshire
and had an awesome time there for a couple of days. The cabin
is on a lake.. Check out this picture, with Justin on the left
and Chris on the right.
After that, we sort of bummed around New Hampshire, Vermont and
Maine. These are really beautiful areas which I spent a lot
of time when I was younger, so they bring back a lot of memories.
Chris also visited this cabin a lot with his family, so he knows
the area. Justin and Adrian were new to the area, and they
thoroughly enjoyed themselves (I'll have to put in that picture of
Justin pushing Adrian into the water...).
