The Introduction to Scientology Web site by Modemac is a well-organized critical overview of Scientology^[tm], written with the average Internet reader in mind.
Richard Behar's Scientology: The Cult of Greed and Power appeared in TIME magazine in 1991, and is one of the best-known critical overviews of Scientology in the press. Scientology^[tm] conducted a multi-million-dollar libel lawsuit against TIME over this article, but after 5 years in court, all of the libel charges were struck down.
