The On-Line Books Page was founded in 1993 by John Mark Ockerbloom, formerly a graduate student (and now a postdoc) in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. He remains the editor of the pages, and gladly accepts suggestions for new listings.
The index of individual titles includes books and definitive collections that meet these criteria. Starting in June 1998, it also lists major serial archive that meet these criteria.
The On-Line Books Page works with The Universal Library Project, also at Carnegie Mellon. Web space and computing resources are provided by the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Our database is developed in collaboration with A Celebration of Women Writers, edited by Mary Mark Ockerbloom.
We are also participating in the Experimental Search System of the Library of Congress.
The books themselves are mostly prepared by other projects, and by individuals. Here's how people can prepare books to go on-line.
If you'd like to get involved, there are lots of ways to do so, and volunteers and associates are always welcome. You may be interested in joining our mailing list and learning more about getting involved.
The On-Line Books Page, its sub-pages, and its compilation of listings are copyright 1993-1999 by John Mark Ockerbloom. Links to any point in these pages are welcome, and ordinary links do not require permission. However, if you want to redistribute or 'mirror' substantial portions of these listings or pages, or create derivative works or displays based on them (beyond what is clearly allowed by fair use), prior written permission is required.
