Cost of prototyping
materials used in CNC machining is not expensive, the amount of machinable wax we used would sell for under $15 and the same quantity of aluminum would cost under $10. This University's machine shop typically charges 40 dollars per hour for labor as well as machine time. We were not charged because this part is made for a class.
This particular part took us more than one hour to make. We had to do some final detailing on commands and setting up before, such as setting zeros for each axis and mounting the block of material. we also came across several obstacles (as mentioned in the physical limitations page) which dramatically slowed us down.
Information on ordering of materials can be found here.
