This is a Sketch of a Bouncing Ball:

The principle upon which the toy design is based:
Gravity, Velocity, Collisions, Elastic Energy, Comparison of Relative Velocities, Potential and Kinetic Energy Concepts, and Energy Transfers
How the child will interact with the toy:
Bounce this ball against a variety of different objects and surfaces, at a variety of different velocities, and observe the ball’s physical behavior, lights, and sounds.
Issues of Construction Costs, Durability, and Safety:
This is a relatively inexpensive toy – it contains one LED and one miniature speaker, both controlled by a simple electronic circuit with an accelerometer. This is powered by a few small, high-capacity lifetime lithium ion watch batteries, which should last for the lifetime of the product. This toy is designed to be highly durable and safe for everybody – no parts would pose a choking hazard but parental supervision is recommended for younger children who wish to use this toy indoors or around fragile things like crystal vases, which would pose the primary safety hazard.
