"Dave the Dancin' Martian"

The idea of Dave the Dancin' Martian is to appeal to the eager eyes of young children. His interesting and different look will ideally entice a young child to explore and play with him. While using the toy, the child should see how the movement of the legs affects how the body as a whole moves. While they may not fully understand the toy's mechanics, they will gain more of an understanding of the physics of the world around them.

Dave is wound from the side, and when released on a flat surface, his four legs will move back and forth causing him to dance around on the table. The vibrant colors and interesting shapes and pieces will definitely hold the short attention span of a young child for plenty of time.

The toy should be relatively inexpensive to produde as it will use a standard wind up toy gear box, and the entire body is made from plastic. Safety is always the most important aspect of a toy. The arms, hands, and antennae of Dave will be made of a pliable plastic to prevent the children from being able to break off pieces and put them in their mouth. Also, the entire toy would be scaled to ensure that it could not fit in a child's mouth.
