The SLA machine is filled
with gallons of liquid epoxy, which is a clear liquid plastic. The liquid epoxy
(or polymer) hardens when hit by ultraviolet light. With early SLA machines the
prototypes were fairly brittle, however, recent improvements have corrected
these problems.
