Concept 2

-Stand holds a plate that has hooks at various places around the edge. Children can add weights and try not to let the figures fall over.

-Various weight sizes allow children to see how both distance and weight contribute to the torque

-Several plates with different shapes are included so children can try different methods of adding weights

"Don't Let Them Fall!" game

Ages 5+

How It Works

-This game will teach children about torque while they play in groups or alone

-Children can play this game alone or in small groups. To play the children choose one of the plates and attach it to the stand. After placing several figures on top of the plate, children take turns hanging small weights from the hooks. As the children watch the results of each weight added, they will learn about how the size of the weight as well as the distance from the center of the plate effects the tipping (or torque) of the figures.

-This game is ideal for schools, where children can learn about torque as well as teamwork and patience.

Construction and Durability

-The stand and the plates could all be made out of wood to keep them durable, especially in classrooms. The hooks and weights could be made out of any metal, and the figures could be any plastic.

Safety

-The only Safety risk would be choking hazards which can be avoided by not allowing childern under 3 use the toy
