Opening JP System 5

JP System 5 is used for creating prototypes of small 3-D models using a paper layering system. JP System 5 is an application that is run under SilverScreen, a package used for designing 3D models. Therefore, in order to access JP System 5, SilverScreen must be run.

Directions if running from a machine that is using Windows 95:

Step 1:  Locate SilverScreen in the Start menu in the lower left hand corner. It should be under the Programs directory.

Step 2: A message will come up telling you that SilverScreen must be run under MS-DOS mode. This is because SilverScreen is too large an application to run under Windows. Simply click OK and the computer will reboot. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE OTHER DOCUMENTS THAT YOU MAY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON BEFORE STARTING SILVERSCREEN.

Step 3: When SilverScreen has opened, there is a list of options on the left side of the screen. From these options, choose Utility. This will open another submenu. Choose Execute from this submenu and a pop-up window will appear and you should select sys5. This will open JP System 5.

If SilverScreen is running on a computer which is not running Windows 95, simply find the directory that SilverScreen is saved. This directory is more than likely called silver. Type silver.pif at the DOS prompt or you can use an application that runs programs in whatever operating system that being used on the computer (i.e. Run under File in Windows) and type the same file name with the correct path.
