I come from the garden city of Bangalore growing up in the quiet neighbourhood of Koramangala. I attended King George's Royal Indian Military School (now known as Military School, Bangalore), with every intention of joining the IAF as a fighter pilot. A two year high school study at DAV, Gopalapuram herded me towards a career in engineering. I graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science with a Masters degree in Systems Software and a Masters degree in Chemistry. BITS, Pilani was memorable in more ways than one. It was here, I met my wife Priya Narasimhan. "Studying" in BITS was a  ball for Priya and I, and the honeymoon continued when we moved to Ohio (Ohio University) at the pretext of doing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. At O.U, I worked with David Chelberg on Decision making for soccer playing mobile robots (Robobcats). After a stint at Ohio, my interests in vision and 3D graphics beckoned and I joined the Robotics Institute (RI) at Carnegie Mellon University as a research scholar and graduate student. At RI, I worked with Takeo Kanade on matters pertinent to Computer Vision, Medical Robotics and 3D graphics.  During the course of graduate study, I dabbled with a  startup on virtual medical simulation and also had a stint at a high-technology small business (Intelligent Automation). For the present, I work with Honeywell Labs in sunny Bangalore and lead some efforts in automating visual scene analysis.

Besides technology, I am interested in trivia quizzing, adventure sports and the stock market. The humdrum of daily life leaves me with little time for the first two. The stock market has been a fascination for the last couple of years and I have had a good ride on the ups and downs of the NASDAQ and Dalal Street. My current holds are entertainment scrips.
