What is hypermedia?

• Hypertext

  • nonsequential text that presents the reader with several options to jump to related material allowing the individual reader to determine in which order to read the text (Nielsen, 1995)

• Multimedia

  • information that is presented in more than one medium such as text, audio, still graphics, video and animation (Baecker et al., 1995)

• Hypertext + Multimedia = Hypermedia
