CMU 15-849 Fall 2021
Datacenter Computing

Course Description

Computing systems are undergoing a radical shift, propelled by stern security requirements and unprecedented growth in data and users. In this course, we will study the hardware, system software, and security technologies and their respective challenges in modern datacenters. The course will focus on the cross-cutting abstractions and interfaces that connect hardware architectures with the system layers and how to bolster their security guarantees. The body of the course will be readings and discussion of recent papers in the field and guest lectures from industry researchers. There will be a “getting started” course assignment and a semester-long original research project.
