Welcome!

I am Umashankar Nagarajan, a Robotics PhD Candidate at The Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. I work with Ralph Hollis (Research Professor) and George Kantor (Systems Scientist) on Dynamically Stable Mobile Robots with special emphasis on a robot called "Ballbot", which moves on a single ball.

My work primarily focuses on developing better control strategies and trajectory planning procedures for fast, dynamic motions of underactuated balancing robots.

I did my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India. I worked with Himanshu Dutt Sharma (Scientist, Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, India and an ex-faculty of BITS, Pilani, India) on the Autonomous Bicycle project, which is also a dynamically stable mobile robot.
