Notes | This class mounts CL-grade lasers in
place of the usual DD-grade mounts for increased effect when serving as part
of a screening element for the Alliance wall of battle. The sidewall generators
are identical to those mounted in the RMN’s Prince
Consort-class CA to increasesurvivability in the screening and
convoy-escort roles. The Gearing’s larger-than-usual mass also
allows it to carry a total of 420 Mk50 missiles in its magazines: space
constraints limit the bow and stern magazines to 25 missiles per tube, but
the broadside magazines hold 40 missiles per tube a 60% increase over
the usual DD magazine load. Ships of this class will be named after mid-2nd Century Ante Diaspora (“World War II”) North American wet-navy Destroyers and Destroyer Escorts. The initial production run will include Gearing (the class ship), Knox, Fletcher, Rowan, Cunningham, Ingersoll, Wadsworth, Callahan, Perry, Maddox, Sullivan, O’Bannon, Thatcher, Gatling, Cushing, Pratt, Whitney, Gregory, Massey, Rudderow, Presley, and several others. |
