I'd try to convince you I'm not an academic, but I don't think you'd buy it... not yet anyways.  After all, I'm 29 and still clinging to the fold of Higher Education, in the guise of pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, here at CMU in comfortable Pittsburgh.

I do plan to finish my thesis by semester's end; until then, I'm a (gulp!) seventh year graduate student, working on my thesis in graphics and animation entitled  Believable Automatically Synthesized Motion by Knowledge-Enhanced Motion Transformation (see my research page).  My advisor, formerly of CMU, now at Pixar (along with everybody else who's not at Microsoft), is Andy Witkin, and my current mates in our shiny new (but, alas, windowless) Newell-Simon Hall office are Tom Kang and Bernard Mettler.
