Two : Floatable Shoes

The floatable shoes concept demonstrates two basic
principles: balance and buoyancy. The
purpose of this toy is for children to experiment with different strategies on how
to “walk on water.” They can try to sit on the edge of a pool and step into the
shoes or take a more daring approach by jumping into them. Once they have figured out a way to actually
stand in them, the real challenge comes when they must figure out how to stay
afloat. This product is relatively
inexpensive to manufacture. The inside layer is a strong foam material packed
with air pockets to prevent the floatable shoes from sinking. Foam is an inexpensive and very abundant
material. The outside material is simply a thin plastic also used for many
other water toys such as beach balls.
This outside part will have a plastic nozzle for the children to inflate
the shoes. Plastic is also inexpensive, easy to find, and safe. These materials are very soft and mostly
made of air to ensure the safety of the children who interact with the
toy. Foam and plastic are both very
durable materials, so this product can withstand the wear and tear of use in
water. Floatable shoes are fun for ages 8 and up.
