Rosie the Ribbiter - Toy Concept 2
Rosie the Ribbiter is a children's toy designed for children aged 3-6. The child can compress Rosie's head and body with light force, and a latch will lock them together. After compressed, a simple push of a button atop Rosie's head will release the latch, thus firing the springs, and the momentum of the weighted head will lift the entire frog off the ground.
The idea for Rosie the Ribbiter came from cheap popup toys, in which the whole toy acted like a compressible spring. This toy differs in that it is larger, so is therefore more impressive to see jump into the air. Also, the release button in unique from these other popup toys, which typically jump on their terms, not the child's.
The construction is simple; Rosie consists of a solid head peice, a body peice, and springs. The latch system is a simple spring loaded latch that retracts when Rosie's head button is pressed. The toy could be manufactured cheaply, for less than $1 per unit, and sold for about $4, although Market research would be necessary.
Children can learn about momentum, springs, and gravity from interacting with this toy, including loading and releasing the springs and watching the frog jump and fall back to the ground.
