Re: VCProgrammer - GEMS Extract File to Start Program

Tab,

I don't have such an option off the Election > Export Menu.  I think there's a missing link somewhere.  The only option I have is Export Card Info and that creates a 9Mb file.  I was just ready to start calling all the satellite sites to see if they had CD rom on the PC's or what we were going to do to get files onto their PC.  I have yet to test any VCProgrammer functions due to this.  Awaiting your comments.

Steve,

I meant to include a section in the "VCProgrammers User Guide" on how to export the data from GEMS.

Do not use the "Export Card Data", rather use the "Export Voter Card Info".  For LA this is creates a 549KB file and for Alameda it creates a 236KB file.
You will need to use GEMS-1-17-4 to get the "Export Voter Card Info" menu item. It is Election->Export->Export Voter Card Info.

A good job was done on the VCProgrammer User Guide for installation process.  It is good to have something to look at.  One main question arises.

The doc indicates that VC Programmer is looking for a file called VoterData.txt.  GEMS has an Export Card Data function.  Is that the program that makes the file we need?  If so, it creates a 9MB file.  I haven't tried it yet, because it creates a 9Mb file and obviously the PC has no Imation drive on it.  I'll wait for Tab to comment.  Maybe I have the wrong Export?  So bottom line is "How does the VOTERDATA.TXT file get created in GEMS?"
