Volunteer Work

Many people are surprised to know that for 8 years (2000-2008) I was a member of the Mamaroneck Volunteer Ambulance Squad or MEMS. During that time I served as a driver, the treasurer of the corps (2001-2005) and as a member of the Board of Directors (2003-2007).

Food and Wine

I always claim that in addition to their research, graduate students need to do something that feeds their soul, for me that is cooking for others. While in Pittsburgh I was inspired by the diversity of the types of food available and nearby and took some time to really hone my own culinary skills. I enjoy preparing foods from scratch and am the most proud of a whole roast duck I made with a chili-pomegranate reduction and vegitables roasted in the duck drippings. The picture to the left is a course from one of the most amazing meals of my life - it was part of a conference dinner in Denmark in 2010.
