National Geographic in Google Earth
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE

For over a century, National Geographic Magazine has written evocative stories about people and places around the world, and combined these stories with unparalleled photography.   The Global Connection project has brought together National Geographic photographic images and content archives with the Google Earth spatial image browser.

Simply download Google Earth (to download click here) and zoom in to Africa or North America. Turn on the National Geographic layer under the Featured Content section. Click anywhere you see a yellow National Geographic logo to uncover a picture plus a link to an article where you can read more.  Where you see red airplane icons, you'll find aerial photographs from Mike Fay's 6-month long Africa Megaflyover overlaid on the globe. Zoom in to see the detail.
