Sketch negative, 2000/2/12, with 8" Dobsonian, 25mm eyepiece. 1 degree field of view. Observed from Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. The larger galaxy on the left is M81. Bright, large, like a spindle. Nucleus is bright, white, obvious. 2 stars are visible 'within' the left part of the galaxy. The galaxy on the right is M82. Dimmer, like a needle. No obvious nucleus.
