Shape Deposition Manufacturing (SDM) is a solid freeform fabrication process being developed to rapidly and automatically manufacture arbitraily complex shaped structures directly from CAD models. SDM research focuses on creating multi-material, embedded structures which cannot be produced with any traditional manufacturing technology. Applications range from next-generation production tooling to personalized wearable computers.
