Eating Frog

Sketch of Eating Frog

This is a toy which is called the Eating Frog. This follows the principle of pulleys. There is a rod which needs to be turned for the toy to function. The rod has a rope attached to one of the pulleys and the same rope is also wound around to another pulley. The rope that is wound around the second pulley is attached to the upper jaw of the frog’s mouth. There is a screw which is attached to the rod. There is a plate in front of the frog which has a hole in it through which the screw can be driven up. A toy fish is attached to the tip of the screw. As you turn the rod the screw gets driven up and the rope are stretched which pulls the rope around the first pulley which in turn pulls the rope around the second pulley. This pulls the rope attached to his mouth causing it to close. As the fish reaches the frogs mouth it closes. This is for really young children from the ages of 2 to 6. This would not be very expensive as it is a clay or wooden toy and the pulleys are wooden. It should cost about $15. It is durable as long as the toy is not thrown from a large height or the rod is not turned too hard because then the rope might just become slack. The toy is very safe. There are no dangers involved with its parts.
