Ball in a Cup v2 is a redesign on a simple and popular kid's toy, Ball in a Cup. Instead of a ball that hangs freely from a string, this redesign uses a two-bar sliding pin linkage to allow a trigger to turn a striker at a faster rotational speed. This linkage is the physical principle that the toy is based on, and it is visible through the handle. The striker then contacts the ball, propelling it out of the cup. The child then catches the ball in the cup.
This would be simple and inexpensive to produce in mass production. All parts can be made out of injection moulded plastic and snapped together for assembly. The largest safety concern would be choking on the ball. The ball should be large enough that it is unlikely that a child would want to swallow it.
