Concept #2: Roller Chair
This toy is designed so that it is not specific for any particular gender or interest. It is made of two plastic hooks attached by string and a plastic chair that rests from a wheel that sits on the string. The idea is that the child attach the first hook at one height and the second hook at another height so that the chair can roll down the length of the string. This toys allows for children with many different interests to find some function for this toy. A boy might enjoy putting his toy soldiers in the chair while a girl might enjoy putting her dolls in the chair. The physical principles involved with this toy concept are gravitational forces and with the principles of velocity and acceleration. The child can also learn about tensile and compressive forces and how the toy handles when the string is let loose versus pulled taught. (Ages 5-12)
