About Lathe

-Late 19th century Lathe-

What is Lathe?
  • Machine tool that shapes metal, wood, or other material by rapidly turning it against a stationary cutting device. A typical lathe usually has a three or four jawed chuck (clamp) that holds the piece that will be machined. Once the piece is held down the machinist can then remove material with the desired cutting tool, machine threads or drill holes by using a stationary bit to remove material from the rotating piece.
What is CNC?
  • CNC - stands for Computer Numerical Control.
  • CNC Machines take information from a computer generated design and build that design.
  • CNC Machines come in two basic forms of CNC mill and CNC lathe.
