Project 1: Three Toy Concept Designs

Part 3: Three Concept Web Pages

What I Learned

I think the most difficult part of this assignment was selecting the concepts to demonstrate.  Once you have a physical concept, it usually isn't very hard to come up with specific presentation of it.  However, with such a broad topic, I wasn't easy.  Next time, I think I'd take a more systemized approach to this.  I'd spend a set amount of time going through a physics or a chemistry book pulling out concepts that I liked.  Then, I'd just choose three of those.  The problem with the toy concepts that I designed for this project was that I spend too much time trying to decide what to do and not enough thinking about how to do it.  So, my toys seem a little underdeveloped and rough.

Also, I did not put as much thought as I should have into a child's perspective on these toys.  I do not spend much time with kids usually, so it is not easy to switch into their frame of mind.  Next time, I would do some research.  For example, I'd talk to people who work with kids or as least see them more than I do.  Also, I could go to the web sites of some toy stores, to see what kind of toys are popular.
