Materials used in CNC Machining
The CNC milling machine has a wide range of compatible materials it can work on. Common types of prototyping materials are aluminum, machining wax, and even (stainless) steel. the CNC machine will simply adjust to different materials with various bits and rotation speeds.
Machinable
wax was used for this particular part, since it is cheap and readily available
(we were given a block sitting in the machining room). Wax also has the advantage
of not wearing out any milling tools because of its relative softness compared
to metals such as aluminum.
