Pros:
· Speed-parts can be made in a few minutes or a few hours
· Accuracy-within .005 inches
· Inexpensive-a few dollars for a small part
· Easy-done with computers
· Few design restrictions-anything that can be drawn on CAD
· Creates a usable prototype with complex geometry: Spheres, Vertical Planes,
Inclined Planes, E-Shapes, Complex Parts
Cons:
· Limited material-works with only some plastics and ceramics
· Limited size-can't always produce parts as large as needed
· Cost of machine-the actual machine is very expensive
· Parts can't be used in real production and surfaces are often rough.
