This toy is aimed at toddlers. It is an interactive teaching toy. The idea is to teach the child different shapes. The child will drop a solid shape (provided) into its corresponding hole. Only one shape, the correct one, will fit each hole. Inside the toy, there is a column for each shape, with an led for each column. When the solid shape blocks the led the corresponding color shape will light up and the toy will congratulate the child for finding the correct shape, and name the shape. It will incorporate sight, sound, and touch to help reinforce the learning of different shapes.
The toy will be constructed out of plastic. The brightly colored shapes will be translucent and have light bulbs behind. There will be an equal number of led's for the number of shapes. Each led will be powered by battery. There will be some wiring and a mechanism for allowing the toy to talk. Since it is targeted to toddlers, the loose shapes will be large enough so there is not a choking hazard. This toy will be very safe because it will take a lot of work to break the plastic and get inside. That is a lot of work for a toddler. An adult will know to use a screwdriver to open the back in order to change the batteries. This toy should retail in 2001 dollars at $39.95.
