Role mole’s glasses were a great project for developing skills. The most important thing this project helped me to develop was my ability to design and build a working prototype in a very limited time. I struggled with problems of geometry in the product-I could make glasses, and I could make a bow tie, but I could not seem to find a way for the former to fold neatly into the latter. Also, I could not decide how they could be taken off and converted to glasses without an excessive amount of work on the part of Role mole. I finally arrived at the final design, and was faced with the prospect of building a rather complicated object in a very short amount of time. I chose chipboard for it’s ease of cutting, gluing and painting for a nice finish. I built my glasses out of layers of cardboard, then sanded the edges, and painted the whole thing a brilliant red.
